When do chihuahua puppies open their eyes. Two and three week old puppies will be able to track objects with their eyes and judge how far away a toy or a moving object is. For the first two weeks of life newborn puppies are unable to bear their weight so they crawl around on their bellies paddle and try to move their legs and build strength. The average time required for a healthy small pup to open its eyes and catch hold of the light of the day is around 14 days. In the beginning the eyes will look almost foggy and have that bluish tint.
Chihuahua puppies eyes open between 10 and 14 days after birth. Their eyes will begin to open in the second week of life usually between 10 to 14 days of age. The permanent eye color can change at 16 weeks old as well. Sometimes in one litter one puppy may open his eyes after 9 days while another may open his after 14 days and yet another will open his after 18 days.
Thanks to their rapid development chihuahua puppies will only take less than 14 days to open their eyes. Their eyes are sealed from the time they are born until this happens. It depends on the individual puppy. Puppies eyes open about two weeks after they are born.
Their hearing will keep on improving until the puppies are around eight weeks old. In fact some puppies will crack their eyes open in as little as nine days. Sometimes a pup may even open one eye before the other. Chihuahua puppies first open their eyes 10 to 16 days after they are born.
Shortly before that the ears open up so they can hear. Puppies ears tend to open shortly after the eyes do usually about 14 to 18 days old. Pups usually open their eyes between 10 14 days after birth. As the pups complete on the week the eyes remain closed.
Despite the eyes no longer being closed eyesight will remain poor and they will only really see their mother and siblings. The eyes will gradually open wider revealing grayish blue eyes with a hazy appearance. Puppies eyes will continue to develop over the next several weeks reaching full vision around eight weeks of age. Their open eyes continue to develop for several more weeks.
During those first two weeks a puppy s senses undergo an extremely rapid growth. There is no established pattern to know when a puppy will open his eyes. It is only in the second week that the eyes start to open slowly. But even then two week old puppies won t see the world clearly.
